2alarm fire in Colorado Springs intentionally set; investigators seeking person of interest

Colorado Springs fire investigators believe the two-alarm fire at 3170 N. Century St. on Saturday was intentionally set, according to a news release by the department.
Firefighters spent 45 minutes knocking down the fire after arriving around 2:45 p.m. as its smoke plume from just north of Fillmo
re Street and east of Nevada Street became visible from across the city. No one was injured in the fire, according to the release.

Colorado Springs police are asking for the public’s help in identifying a person of interest who was seen walking in the area of the fire after it began. Anyone with information on this person can call CSPD at 719-444-7000 or remain anonymous on the Crime Stoppers tip line at 719-634-7867.
The fire was initially found in a large pile of Styrofoam and construction materials outside a business, which is surrounded by several industrial and warehouse buildings. Firefighters contained the fire to the pile and prevented it from spreading to neighboring buildings, the release stated.
The investigation remains ongoing and it is now under the responsibility of the Colorado Springs Police Department.
