Prior to taking office as Nebraska’s 33rd Attorney General in 2023, Hilgers served six years in the Nebraska Legislature. During his tenure, Hilgers served a s Speaker of the 107th Legislature, Chairman of the Executive Board, and Chairman of the Rules Committee. As a senator, Mike fought to defend the unborn, backed law enforcement, and safeguarded election integrity. Born and raised in Omaha, Hilgers and his wife, Heather, are raising their four children outside of Lincoln. He received his degree in economics from Baylor University and law degree from the University of Chicago. Before becoming Attorney General, Hilgers built a law firm from his basement in Lincoln, growing it to over 100 lawyers across the country, and was named 4 different times to Inc.’s list of 5,000 fastest growing companies in the country. He personally created high-paying jobs in Nebraska, and both recruited Nebraskans home and nationally recruited talented attorneys to come to Lincoln to be a part of his team.   ...read more read less
