(KRON) -- A suspected drunk driver was arrested in Hercules on Saturday after he stopped at a fire station to ask for directions, according to authorities. The Hercules Police Department was dispatched at 6:35 p.m. to Contra Costa County Fire Station 76 at 1680 Refugio Valley Road. It was reported that the 63-year-old Oakland man parked his blue Audi A4 in front of the fire engine bay and walked into the station for directions. Officers said the man “displayed the objective signs and symptoms of being under the influence of alcohol” and noted that he had a suspended driver’s license for a previous DUI. The man was taken into custody after a field sobriety test and a breathalyzer indicated that he was over the limit, Hercules PD said. During the arrest and booking at the Martinez Detention Facility, officers said they found a baggie containing suspected fentanyl and methamphetamine in his sock. Police had the Audi towed from the fire station. ...read more read less
