(KRON) -- A Honolulu man who was arrested in Millbrae last month for alleged possession of fentanyl arrived at his court case on Wednesday with fentanyl in his bag, according to the San Mateo County District Attorney’s Office. Joey Takeo Kainoa Arakaki, 35, had posted $100,000 bail following his arrest on November 11. Prosecutors said that on Wednesday, as Arakaki was going through security at San Mateo County Superior Court in Redwood City ahead of a case review conference, a sheriff’s office deputy searching his bag located a foil packet with “a white chalky substance.” Kidnapper hired to kill Menlo Park worker denied parole Three baggies in total containing a small amount of fentanyl were found, according to the DA’s office. Arakaki told authorities that he had forgotten they were there, prosecutors said. The deputy searching the bag claimed to have immediate heart palpitations and lightheadedness, the DA’s office said. Toxicology experts say skin contact with fentanyl is unlikely to cause an overdose, and any exposure would require a period of time before toxicity occurs.
