Frank Burgess Haddleton, of Burlington, Vt., passed away on November 25, 2025, at the age of 62, after a courageous battle with depression and other health issues.
Born in Boston, Frank grew up in Dover, Mass., and spent childhood summers on Cape Cod. After gr
aduating from Haverford College, he earned his law degree at Northeastern University School of Law and his LLM from Boston University School of Law’s Graduate Tax program, where he was awarded the Alumni Academic Achievement Award. He had his own law practice for 30 years and was a property manager, book author and massage therapist.
Frank was an avid runner, completing two marathons in Burlington and many races on Cape Cod and in Sarasota, Fla. He loved biking and kayaking, and he began sailing as a child. He had a passion for genealogy, history, antique maps, old postcards and ephemera of all kinds. Frank appreciated well-written literature, puns and word play, and had been writing stories since he was six years old.
Frank was an extremely kind, compassionate man. Even as he struggled with his own health issues, he always showed concern for others, asking questions about their lives and offering encouraging words. He was an attentive listener and generous with compliments. Frank made people laugh with his quick and clever wit. He had a brilliant, perceptive mind but was unpretentious and polite. Frank was loved by many friends, clients and relatives, and every dog or cat he encountered was immediately drawn to his loving nature and gentle soul.
Frank is survived by his loving husband of 37 years, Brian Jaffarian. He is also survived by his brother and sister-in-law, Russ and Alina Haddleton, and their children.
No service is planned at this time. In memory of Frank, please consider a gift to the Humane Society of Chittenden County.
