I can confirm the new production of the Tony Award-winning musical “Mary Poppins” at Colorado Springs Fine Arts Center is indeed a sweet, heartwarming treat for the holidays. Liza Piccoli, as the titular character, has a beautiful voice, and John T. Wolfe, co-owner of the downtown gay bar Icons, works every last muscle in his portrayal of the chimney sweep Bert. I was particularly impressed with the young actor who played the son, Michael Banks. That was a whole lot of music and choreography to remember, and he pulled it off, with excellent comic timing, to boot.
