Governor Girls earn first win of season in thriller with Central Cobblers
Dec 13, 2025
The Pierre Governor Girls looked to right the ship after their double-digit loss to RC Stevens Friday night, and they knew it would be a difficult task against the Central Cobblers who returned most of their starting five from a year ago. Pierre head coach Kirk Beebout talked about the importance of
getting Emery Larson involved on offense, and Pierre did just that.
The game started with sharp offnese for the Govs who got buckets from Molly Olson others helping pad a ten-point lead. Emery Larson missed her first three of the game, but it would be one of the few misses of the day for the senior.
Pierre controlled the game most of the first half, never letting the Cobblers earn a lead. However, Chloe Shreve and Leah Landry both found a rhythm in the second half exposing the Governors size in the paint and thrusting Central out in front. The Cobblers at one point held a six-point lead midway through the half, but Emery Larson kept providing gut-punches with threes that would have been good from NBA range.
Larsons sharp-shooting and some great defense facilitated by a few Jasmine Jost and Ellen Hart steals, the Govs were able to regain the lead and go onto win 61-51.
Pierre had another great day at the free throw line, an outstanding day defesnively, but the star was Larson who finished with 25-points and 7 threes.
The Govs improve to 1-1 while the Cobblers fall to 0-2.
