Boone County agencies monitoring weather in case shelters are needed

LEBANON, Ind. (WISH) — Multiple agencies across Boone County are coordinating their response to Saturday’s snowstorm in case there’s a widespread need for shelters.
The Boone County Commissioners Office said it’s monitoring conditions, along with Boone County Emergency Management, th
e Boone County Sheriff’s Office, and the Salvation Army of Boone County, in case there’s a need to provide temporary shelter.
People in need of assistance, or trying to find help for someone, can call the Boone County Communications Center at 765-482-1412 and press option 4 to be connected with available services.
Boone County Communications Director Brent Wheat told News 8 there are no weather shelters opened at the moment, but plans are being made in case there’s widespread demand because of power outages or people without a home.
“We’re trying to stay ahead of this,” Wheat said.
Boone County is under a travel advisory, meaning routine travel or activities may be restricted.
