American Legion post in Madison will be setting up a Giving Tree
Dec 13, 2025
The American Legion Jay Wilson Post 112 in Madison will once again be setting up a Giving Tree in front of the tank, starting Dec.13 and running through Jan. 3.
The intent of the Giving Tree is to invite area veterans and the community to share in the spirit of Christmas, supporting the families in
need of a little extra help for the holidays, according to a news release.
Attached to the tree will be contributions, particularly hats, gloves, scarves, socks, hand warmers, earmuffs, and light winter-wear for men, women, and children, of all ages. People do not need to be a member of the post to benefit from the items on the tree — all are welcome, according to a news release
Those who do not need any assistance for the holidays, can consider making a donation, either new and unwrapped items for the tree, or a monetary donation to acquire additional items. Donations can be dropped off inside of the post, in care of the Giving Tree.
“Through this initiative, the American Legion Post 112 is giving the community and our veterans an opportunity to come together and give back in a meaningful way…in the true spirit of Christmas,” the organization stated.
Also, on Dec. 20, there will be a “Christmas Toy Giveaway” from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Gift bags will be distributed to children 13 years and younger while older children, ages 14 to 17, will receive a gift also. All post members and families, along with members of
the community, are encouraged to benefit from this one-day holiday event.
The Post is located at 6671 Middle Ridge Road in Madison.
