A string of armed robberies and attempted robberies targeted residents in several Philadelphia neighborhoods on Friday morning, according to the police department. Investigators said that in all five of the incidents on Dec. 12, at least one suspect approached a person, pointed a rifle at the vi ctim and then fled in a silver SUV or pickup truck. Armed suspects steal cash, electronics from Philly residents Police said that around 5:44 a.m. on Dec. 12, a man was sitting in his car when two men allegedly approached him with a rifle and demanded money on the 2500 block of Emery Street in Port Richmond. The suspects got away with an iPhone, two iPads and an unknown amount of cash, officials explained. In a second incident, a woman was at an ATM on the 4700 block of Rising Sun Avenue in North Philly around 6 a.m. when two people approached her, showed they were carrying a rifle and took cash from her, police said. Attempted robberies target Philadelphia residents Just after midnight on Dec. 12, a woman was driving along the 2500 block of Clearfield Street in Port Richmond when a silver pickup pulled in front of her and blocked her path, police said. A person allegedly got out of the truck and pointed a rifle through the woman’s driver’s side window while demanding that she open her car doors, according to police. The woman told the person that she didn’t have any money on her, put her car in reverse and drove away, officials explained. Police reported that the suspect got back into the pickup and drove away without taking anything from the woman. In a second attempted robbery on Dec. 12, a woman was walking up the steps to her home on the 800 block of East Thompson Street in Fishtown around 2:47 a.m. when a man wearing all black clothing and a face mask approached her, police said. The masked man pointed a rifle at her and she pushed him away before running into her house, according to police. The suspect got into a light-colored SUV and drove away without taking anything. Then, on the 1000 block of East Palmer Street in Fishtown a man was sitting in his car around 6:17 a.m. when a person armed with a rifle approached him, police reported. Officials said that the man resisted the suspect, grabbed the gun and pushed it away before the suspect ran away without taking anything.
