A woman was shot and killed early Friday morning while attempting to recover a stolen vehicle from a motel parking lot, Fort Worth Police say. According to police, officers were called to a shooting at a motel on the 1800 block of Jacksboro Highway at about 5:20 a.m. When they arrived, they found a woman who had been shot in the abdomen. The woman was taken to a hospital but later died. Police said investigators learned the victim and a man had gone to the motel to recover his stolen vehicle, which he’d located at the motel but had not reported stolen to police. While attempting to recover the vehicle, police said “an incident occurred where the female was shot.” Two people who were in the stolen vehicle ran from the motel after the shooting. Fort Worth Police did not say who shot the woman and have not announced any arrests or identified any suspects. The victim’s identity will be released by the Tarrant County Medical Examiner’s Office after her family has been notified of her death. Fort Worth Police said they are looking into information that the stolen vehicle may have been used in a drive-by shooting earlier Friday, but so far, police have not confirmed whether it was the same vehicle. The investigation into the homicide is ongoing. Police believe there is no active threat to the public and that the shooting was an isolated incident. ...read more read less
