INDIANAPOLIS (WISH) — A double murder and arson suspect who crashed his vehicle during a police chase in Whiteland has been released from the hospital and is in custody, Indianapolis police said Friday morning. Jaren Morgan, 18, was wanted in the Thanksgiving Day murders of his father, 36- year-old Corkney Morgan, and his father’s girlfriend, 36-year-old Meghan Wiekerson. The Indianapolis Fire Department found the couple at a home in the 3700 block of Audubon Road when they responded to a fire at the home. Both victims had been shot. Corkney Morgan died at the scene from his injuries; Wiekerson died sometime after arriving at a hospital. A young child located inside the home was thankfully unharmed, police said. Through the start of the investigation, detectives spoke with several community members, and soon found a Facebook livestream showing Jaren Morgan running from the police. Whiteland police had reportedly attempted a traffic stop on Morgan for a violation, but Morgan fled, eventually crashing his car. Medics rushed Morgan to a hospital for treatment. Investigators say they found two guns on Jaren Morgan, one of which detectives linked to the murders. A warrant was issued for Morgan’s arrest on Monday, followed by formal charges on Wednesday. Upon his release from the hospital, Morgan was taken into custody. He faces charges of four counts of murder, two counts of robbery resulting in serious bodily injury, and arson. Online jail records show he is due in court for a hearing on Tuesday. Crime Resources Crime Stoppers of Central Indiana: 317-262-8477 P3tips app | Apple devices | Google Play ...read more read less
