FORT WAYNE, Ind. (WOWO) – I feel like we’ve had a lengthy seperation from each other, please excuse my absence, I took a vacation. I’m done slacking off in the mountains and back at my desk so let’s get you caught up on what to do this weekend around town. Arguably I am too old to be as exci ted as I am for the annual return of Santa’s reindeer at Jefferson Point. Santa’s Google Maps will be available for meet and greet opportunities until December 20. Grab a hot cocoa and bundle up! Don’t be a Scrooge and grab the family or some friends and watch A Christmas Carol as it comes to life at Salomon Farm Park’s historic Old Barn. The world-premiere adaptation, written by Summit City Artistic Director Gavin Thomas Drew and Chapman Shields, with music by Benjamin Kambs, brings Ebenezer Scrooge’s iconic story of redemption to the stage. The 70-minute show is family-friendly, with heat blown into the barn, though the uninsulated space means guests should bundle up with blankets and coats. Tickets are $25 for adults, $20 for seniors 65+, and $20 for students 21 and under. Children 2 and under who sit on a lap are free. Seating is general admission, and organizers recommend arriving 30 minutes early. Concessions will be available, and receipts serve as tickets. Similarly, a holiday favorite returns as A Christmas Story takes the stage, bringing the beloved film to life with all its humor and heart. The play follows 9-year-old Hoosier Ralphie Parker on his mission to land the perfect gift, a Red Ryder BB gun, while facing childhood mishaps, a cranky mall Santa, a frozen flagpole, and his father’s legendary leg lamp. Packed with iconic scenes and plenty of nostalgia, this family-friendly production captures the chaos and magic of Christmas through Ralphie’s wide-eyed imagination. A festive treat for all ages, and as the story warns, “You’ll shoot your eye out” if you miss it. Take your family to the Jungle this weekend for some Komet hockey. Friday night is Teddy Bear Toss and Saturday is Neon Night. Puck drop is at 7:30 for both. Get out and have some fun this weekend! Bundle up and stay safe, see you next week.. for real this time.
