Indiana Lt. Governor Micah Beckwith speaks out after Senate vote blocks conservative redistricting plan in an exclusive with WOWO’s Kayla Blakeslee Fort Wayne, IN – After a 19-31 vote in the Indiana Senate, Lt. Governor Micah Beckwith didn’t hold back in his criticism. The vote, which saw deep divisions within the Republican Party, left many conservatives frustrated. Beckwith expressed his anger at Senate leadership and what he sees as a betrayal to both President Donald Trump and conservative values. “I’m very disappointed, obviously.” Beckwith’s disappointment was evident when he reflected on the vote count. “I was hearing maybe 27, 28 no votes, but I was not expecting 31,” he said. “It was hard to see.” State Senate’s “Weakness” Exposed Beckwith laid much of the blame on the Indiana State Senate, which he said has a history of undercutting conservative efforts. “America has seen the weakness of our Indiana State Senate. We’ve known this for years. The Senate in Indiana is where conservative bills from the House go to die.” Leadership Under Fire He didn’t spare Senate President Rod Bray, calling his leadership a major roadblock to conservative goals. “What Rod Bray did was a middle finger to Donald Trump. He said, ‘Thanks for fighting for us, but we’re not going to fight for you.’ Rod Bray needs to be replaced as the leader of the Senate because you will never have a conservative Senate with his leadership at the helm.” Beckwith also pushed for a change in leadership, specifically pointing to House Speaker Chris Garton as someone who could bring real change. “Chris Garton is an America First patriot. If we could get him in leadership, he would whip that Senate into shape.” Time for Change? Beckwith didn’t mince words about long-serving senators. “Jim Buck has been in office since I was 11 years old. That is a problem. These guys need to go. Thank you for your service, now go right off into the sunset. You’re done.” Rejection of the Map = Rejection of Trump? When asked about the future of redistricting, Beckwith didn’t hold back on his thoughts. “No, not with this Senate. The Senate will say go to hell to Donald Trump one more time… the state Senate just said, ‘go to hell.’ We don’t care about you. We actually care about the Democrats and we want to be seen as friendly to the Democrats.” He believes the vote was a clear message to the conservative movement. “This is an evil Marxist Democrat movement that’s happening right now. And we should give no quarter to any of that.” Sabotage and Backstabbing Allegations Beckwith was also questioned about allegations that some Republicans sabotaged the redistricting process. While he didn’t confirm details, he was clear about the division within the party. “There’s a very big element in Indiana that hates Donald Trump… these conversations were being had… you will see these primaries… taking leftist money to win Republican primaries.” He warned that the upcoming primaries are going to be contentious. “The primaries are about to get real ugly… a lot of political money will flow into our state, likely more than we’ve ever seen before.” The Conservative Movement Will Finish What It Started Despite the internal party turmoil, Beckwith emphasized that the conservative movement won’t back down. “We didn’t start this war, but we will finish it. President Trump’s coming in. TP Action’s coming in. Governor Braun and I are coming in. We’re going to fix the Senate come hell or high water.” Beckwith’s resolve was clear. “I’m already on the phone with potential primary candidates, so I got work to do.” As Indiana heads into the 2026 midterms, all eyes will be on the Senate, as Republicans prepare for what could be a highly charged primary season.
