Nine people, four of which were under the age of 18, were arrested by San Jose police on suspicion of gang-related crimes, the department said Wednesday.
Police said the arrests were the result of a large-scale investigation into gang-related crimes that took place between September and November,
including things such as vandalism and firearm offenses.
Seven suspects were identified as allegedly being responsible for crimes, including two 16-year-old boys, a 17-year-old boy and a 14-year-old boy. Also identified were Luis Haro, 20, Elijah Santos, 18, and Angel Gonzalez, also 18. Arrest and search warrants were issued for all suspects.
On Nov. 19, Haro and the two 16-year-olds were arrested in San Jose. Detectives allegedly found a loaded firearm, a large quantity of narcotics and two homemade improvised explosive devices at Haro’s residence. A bomb squad took the devices and rendered them safe, police said.
During the execution of a search warrant at one of the juvenile suspect’s residence, detectives found an additional suspect, Alejandro Villa, 27, who was allegedly in possession of illegal narcotics for sale. Villa was booked into Santa Clara County Main Jail for an outstanding warrant and on suspicion of narcotics-related crimes.
Haro was booked into jail and the two juvenile suspects were booked into Santa Clara County Juvenile Hall, all on suspicion of various crimes, including vandalism and firearm-related offenses, according to police.
On Dec. 3, Santos, Gonzalez and the 17- and 14-year-olds were arrested in San Jose. Police allege they found stolen firearms at the boys’ residences. While executing a search warrant at Gonzalez’s house, an additional suspect was located, Humberto Aquino, 33. Aquino was on active parole with a warrant for his arrest.
