Firefighters rescue 2 people and 1 dog from apartment fire in Dallas

The Dallas Fire Rescue (DFR) responded to a fire at an apartment on Wednesday morning.
At approximately 10:52 a.m. DFR units were dispatched to a fire in the 2400 block of Bahama Drive, according to DFR.
When the firefighters arrived on scene, they reported black smoke coming from a first-floo
r apartment where reports of people were inside.
Firefighters rescued two people and one dog from the apartment.
Firefighters entered the apartment of origin and extinguished a fire that originated near a closet. There was one person in that apartment when the fire started, but was able to escape before the first responders arrived, , according to DFR.
Another group of firefighters were able to find a woman sleeping inside her apartment. Firefighters assisted her out as smoke filled the residence.
A second resident was rescued from their balcony, which wasn’t on fire but was filling with smoke.
A third resident escaped the fire and was taken to the hospital after being exposed to the smoke.
There were a total of eight apartments in the building, but only one was damaged by the fire. The other seven apartments suffered significant smoke damage, displacing those residents.
The cause of the fire is unknown.
