IU President Whitten emphasizes affordability and innovation in speech

INDIANAPOLIS (WISH) — Indiana University President Pamela Whitten on Tuesday delivered her 2025 State of the University address at IU Indianapolis.
She highlighted IU’s growing role in strengthening Indiana’s workforce, research innovation and long-term economic future..

ined new degree programs in engineering, artificial intelligence, and biosciences while emphasizing the expansion of IU’s Gen-AI 101 course.
She also pointed to affordability gains, noting that more than half of IU undergraduates now finish without student loan debt.
“I firmly believe that IU can become the model that shows others the way forward. As I said at the center of all this is affordability. We are committed to insuring that a Indiana University education remains within reach so every student regardless of background can access the opportunities that they deserve.”
Whitten also highlighted multimillion-dollar partnerships with Eli Lilly and Co. and Cook Medical, and reaffirmed IU’s commitment to open dialogue and free expression.
