On Tuesday at 1:34 p.m. a winter weather advisory was released by the National Weather Service valid from Wednesday 4 a.m. until Thursday 1 a.m. for Southern Herkimer."Total snow accumulations between 2 and 4 inches with higher amounts 4 to 8 inches well north of the New York Thruway," can be expect ed according to the weather service. "Snowfall rates up to 0.5 per hour likely through early afternoon Wednesday with 0.5 to 1 inch per hour snowfall rates mainly north of the New York Thruway Lake effect snow develops overnight Wednesday and continues through Thursday.
