GEORGETOWN, Ky. (ABC36 NEWS NOW) — A police pursuit early Tuesday morning led to gunfire, a disabled patrol car and a large-scale manhunt before officers safely arrested a suspect, Georgetown police said. Around 3 a.m., officers attempted a traffic stop near Paynes Depot and the Bypass, but the driver drove off toward Stamping Ground. During the chase, the suspect fired several shots at pursuing officers, hitting and disabling the lead patrol vehicle, according to police. Multiple agencies — including the Scott County Sheriff’s Office, Kentucky State Police, Kentucky Fish and Wildlife, and the Lexington Police Department’s Air 1 helicopter — joined the search. The suspect was later found and taken into custody without further incident. No injuries were reported. Police say more details will be released when available.
