Dec 08, 2025
Grocery store chain Wegmans is recalling varieties of mixed nuts that were sold in the tri-state area and elsewhere over possible salmonella contamination.
The recall applies to Deluxe Unsalted Mixed Nuts varieties that were sold in 34 oz. tubs with a best by date of July 28, 2026 and 11.5 oz. plast
ic bags with a best by date of Aug. 10, 2026. The products include cashews, almonds, pecans and pistachios.
Both products were sold between November 3 and December 1 in stores in New York, New Jersey and Connecticut as well as Delaware, Maryland, Massachusetts, North Carolina, Pennsylvania, Virginia and Washington, D.C.
Wegmans said a single lot of raw pistachios was determined to be positive for salmonella through routine testing by its food supplier. Those pistachios had been used in the Deluxe Unsalted Mixed Nuts production.
Affected customers can return the products to a Wegmans store for a full refund.
No illnesses associated with the recall have been reported, according to the Food and Drug Administration.
Salmonella can cause serious and even fatal infections in young children, frail or elderly people and those with weakened immune systems, according to the FDA.
“Healthy persons infected with Salmonella often experience fever, diarrhea (which may be bloody), nausea, vomiting and abdominal pain,” the FDA said. “In rare circumstances, infection with Salmonella can result in the organism getting into the bloodstream and producing more severe illnesses such as arterial infections (i.e., infected aneurysms), endocarditis and arthritis.”
