DELAWARE, OH. (WOWO) A Delaware County judge is the focus of a criminal investigation after a sheriff’s office report indicated possible offenses of rape and gross sexual imposition. Judge James Schuck, 50, took a voluntary leave of absence last week after being named as the defendant in a civil s talking case filed by a 25-year-old assistant prosecuting attorney. According to the newly released case report, investigators interviewed the woman on November 25 and concluded that “a crime may have occurred.” Schuck has not been charged with any offense according to NBC-4 Columbus. The allegations date back to late 2024, when Schuck allegedly began asking the woman personal questions and suggested he wanted to “get to know her better.” Over the following months, he allegedly continued seeking personal and sexual information, asked about her sexual preferences, and urged her to keep their interactions secret. In her interview with investigators, the woman alleged repeated pressure for sex at various locations. One incident detailed in the report involves a late-night encounter in May at the Delaware County Courthouse. After the woman visited a convenience store nearby, she said Schuck used her phone location to find her and directed her to meet him in his office. According to the report, he confronted her about seeing another man, pushed her into a wall, and performed a sex act before she pulled away and left. The report also describes Schuck becoming “really emotional” when she declined sexual contact, including crying or hitting furniture. The woman provided deputies with a text message Schuck allegedly sent apologizing for “scaring her and pressuring her” and asking for another chance. She later blocked him on social media, and the interactions decreased. Attorneys representing Schuck in the civil case have previously said he “categorically denies the defamatory accusations and intends to vigorously contest them through the legal process.” NBC4 has requested updated comment regarding the criminal investigation. The sheriff’s office continues to examine the reported conduct. Prosecutors have not announced whether charges will be filed.
