HENRICO COUNTY, Va. (WRIC) -- A 17-year-old girl was killed and another woman was injured in a shooting in Henrico County early Saturday morning. At around 1:35 a.m. on Saturday, Dec. 6, officers with the Henrico County Police Division were called to the 2100 block of Dickens Road for a reported sh ooting. Officers arrived, entered a room in the building where the incident took place, and found a woman and a 17-year-old girl with apparent gunshot wounds. The woman was taken to a hospital with serious but non-life-threatening injuries, while the teenager was pronounced dead at the scene. Detectives with the police division's criminal investigations section is currently investigating the incident, but police said an initial investigation shows there was a large gathering involving multiple juveniles. “While homicides in Henrico County are down significantly this year, one death is still too many, especially that of a minor,” said Henrico Chief of Police Eric D. English. “The Henrico County Police Division remains committed to reducing violent crime in the county.” The shooting marks the county's third homicide this year.
