RICHMOND, Va. (WRIC) -- A recent study looked into how much a working parent needs to make to support a family with a stay-at-home parent -- and Virginia falls within the top 15 states with the highest pay requirements.
The study from SmartAsset found that, in the state of Virginia, a single earner
with one parent staying at home would need to make $84,261. For two working parents, the required income is $98,176, while the cost of raising a child is $28,330.
This ranks Virginia 14th in the country for the highest income needed for one parent to stay at home.
