Hamilton Twp. Mayor Jeff Martin ranks on the short list of candidates to replace New Jersey Attorney General Matthew Platkin, according to a New Jersey Globe report. The Globe identified First Assistant Attorney General Jennifer Davenport and former Acting U.S. Attorney Vikas Khanna as primary conte nders for the state’s top law enforcement post to be filled by Governor-elect Mikie Sherrill. While Martin likely rungs down-ladder for this position, although even being considered for the post underscores his potential star political power. A veteran of the U.S. Air Force, Martin served in the Judge Advocate General’s Corps. Mayor Martin received his Bachelor of Arts from the College of New Jersey, his Juris Doctor from Rutgers University, and a Master of Law from the University of Connecticut. He was elected to the Hamilton Township Council in 2017, serving as Council President in 2019. He was elected Mayor of Hamilton Township in 2019, becoming, at 36, the youngest person ever elected to the position. He is currently serving his second term as Mayor.
