Pennington’s Genevieve Vallieres is our Prep Field Hockey Player of the Year
Dec 05, 2025
Another field hockey season is in the books and it was a good one.
The Mercer County prep schools shined like they always do, with Pennington leading the way by winning its first state title.
Here are our Prep All-Stars:
Player of the Year — Genevieve Vallieres, Sr., Pennington: Vallieres moved to
the area from New York and quickly took to the game of hockey. Through a lot of hard work and a passion, she just kept improving. Heading to Louisville in the fall, she was the key to the Red Hawks’ first state championship with 31 goals and 18 assist.
Offensive Player of the Year — Anna Treese, Sr., Peddie: Treese was the go-to player for the Falcons. A gifted all-around player, Treese caged 21 goals and added six assists. She did whatever was necessary to help Peddie gain a win and was a leader on and off the field. She finished her career with 56 goals and 18 assists.
Midfielder of the Year — Delaney Jones, So., Hun: Jones burst on the scene for the Raiders and helped lead them to a successful season. Her maturity beyond her years showed as Hun finished strong and started a four-game winning streak after she caged a career high four goals in a win over Montgomery. Jones finished with 10 goals and six assists.
Defender of the Year — Lily Sung, So., Lawrenceville: It was a tough start to the season for the Big Red because of how young the team was, but when players like Sung began to feel comfortable the wins started. An anchor on defense, Sung was a key in Lawrenceville winning four of the final six games.
Goalie of the Year — Lillian Chiaravalloti, Sr., Pennington: Chiaravalloti owned an amazing 0.56 goals against average for the Red Hawks and it was her play on defense that allowed the Pennington attack to flourish. She was key in the state championship game, and when the Red Hawks faced nationally-ranked Hill she had a career high 30 saves.
Coach of the Year — Kristin McCarthy, Pennington: It was the steady guidance and leadership of McCarthy and her staff that brought a state championship to Pennington. The Red Hawks stayed focused and prepared in each game. She took a young team a couple years ago and taught it how to win and play as a team.
Kendall Sorrentino, Lawrenceville: One of the senior leaders, Sorrentino was a key in helping the Big Red recover from a difficult start to the season. She finished with five goals and six assists.
Lucy Guarini, Peddie: This senior was a steady player throughout the season and one who the Falcons could count upon to be in the right place at the right time. She scored a career high six goals and her leadership was a key to success.
Lily Chincarini, Lawrenceville: One of the senior leaders, Chincarini found the back of the cage five times and added four assists. Chincarini was a player who just kept improving during her career.
Clara Meccage, Pennington: Without a doubt one of the top freshman in the area, Meccage started the season with a hat trick and it only got better from there. A very skilled player, she was lethal around the cage with 20 goals and 12 assists.
Abby Chirik, Stuart: A senior, Chirik led the Tartans with a career high nine goals. Her savvy on the field awareness proved to have a lasting effect on the younger players.
Megan Widlar, Lawrenceville: The senior led the Big Red in scoring with eight goals and two assists. Her field presence was a key in helping the younger players come along throughout the season.
Ola Adamska, Peddie: A sophomore who showed a lot of poise and consistency, Adamska has good stick skills and was always able to make sound connections inside the circle.
Carolyn Sirolly, Hun: It was an interesting season for the Raiders and Sirolly, a junior, was right in the middle of it with five goals and five assists. Hun finished the season winning four of the last five and Sirolly played a key role in the success.
Brooke Flannery, Pennington: One of Flannery’s greatest was her ability to settle things in the midfield and continue to push the ball into the circle. She had a career high 14 goals and 12 assists.
Shona Karp, Pennington: One of the attributes of the Pennington team was its electrifying attack and that was all possible because of the play of a defender like Karp. Not one to back down from a challenge, she was a compliment to the offense.
Amanda Wolfe, Hun: Just a sophomore, Wolfe was one of the young Raiders who just continued to grow throughout the season. She caged three goals, but it was her play on defense that caught the attention of the opposition.
Maddie Morrison, Stuart: A staunch defender, the sophomore showed to be a player that is just going to continue to get better. Many times this season, it was the defense that led to a Stuart victory.
Mya Griffith, Peddie: The senior was a key to the defense with her steady play and the ability to ignite the transition game. Another of the Peddie players who showed a lot of leadership as the team continued to grow.
Jada Hutchinson, Stuart: She was one of the veterans on the Stuart roster and showed her leadership and passion for the game with a career season. She tallied four goals and had four assists.
Lynsey Parrott, Hun: Parrott came over this season from Robbinsville and fit right in at Hun. Over her career, she let her play do the talking and her goals against average under 1.50 spoke volumes.
