Highlights: De’Aaron Fox leads Spurs in dramatic win over the Magic
Dec 04, 2025
I’m not privy to professional sports teams’ schedules when the players fly in at 4 AM for a 7 PM (eastern time I assume) game that same day. Do the coaches let them sleep in until noon? Hotel breakfast hits different on 2 – 4 hours of sleep. Why do they stop serving breakfast at 9 AM
if I go to bed at 4 AM? Not very continental if you ask me.
Regardless, these/our/your Spurs gutted out an exciting win over the Orlando Magic behind De’Aaron Fox’s game-high 31 points, and Luke Kornet had the most stylish game-winning block since Manu Ginóbili’s Mona Lisa in the playoffs against the Rockets. Additionally, on Wednesday night, six different Spurs scored in the double digits, which speaks to an all-team effort to dispatch a tough opponent.
De’Aaron Fox’s speed is not up for debate, but his ability to also stop on a dime to create space is underrated. It seems like yesterday that the Spurs traded for Fox, but he’s steadily integrated himself with the team, leading the team, and providing that needed scoring punch. After a slow-ish start, Fox is back to exceeding his career average of 21.5 points per game by now averaging a robust 24.5.

Harrison Barnes showing off his bag of tricks for the two. Barnes, the ever steady vet, continued to provide valuable minutes and leadership. In his 15th season, HB is averaging a solid 13.3 points per game and shooting a career-high 44.1% from three.

I know we keep mentioning the 4 AM landing to play a game that same day, but I have a feeling Keldon Johnson didn’t even sleep. We all know that one kid who doesn’t sleep on school trips, wakes everyone up in the morning because they put on Gargoyles or Batman: The Animated Series because their mom wouldn’t let them watch TV at home first thing in the morning. We all know that kid because I was that kid. Also if you like Star Trek: The Next Generation, you’ll love Gargoyles (looks off camera)—I guarantee it.

I know Dylan Harper is a rookie, and the Spurs like to develop their young players, but the league better watch out when he starts logging 30+ minutes a game. On a roster already short-handed due to injuries to Victor Wembanyama and Stephon Castle, it’s incredible that Harper is nevertheless impactful while coming off the bench because the Spurs’ roster is sneaky deep.
As he slowly gains Mitch Johnson’s trust, Harper has come along in his most recent outings, scoring in the double digits in 9 out of his last 10 games. Mind you he’s doing this playing around 20-25 minutes a night.

This play reminded me of Stephon Castle and Keldon Johnson taking it hard to the hoop. Take a moment to remind ourselves that Castle is 21 years old, Harper is 19, and Johnson is the “wiry old man” at the ripe-old age of 26. What a fun team.

Jeremy Sochan and Dylan Harper decided to play two-man hot potato with the winner being both of them as Sochan got the bucket, and Harper got the assist. Win win.

The block. The pose. The celebration. Let these boys ride “Star Tours” and “Toy Story Midway Mania” before you make them get on another plane out of town—they deserve it.
