LETTERS: DMV work that matters; the real heroes

DMV work that matters
This holiday season, I want to thank a group of people who may not often hear how much their work matters: the dedicated employees at our Colorado DMV offices who help people register as organ, eye, and tissue donors.
Sixteen years ago, at age 39, I was diagnosed with sar
coma, a cancer that had invaded the bone in my leg. After 14 months of chemotherapy and two surgeries, I faced a devastating possibility: losing my leg to amputation. But in June 2009, I received a transplanted femur from a generous donor, and that gift changed everything. Today, I still have my leg because someone checked a box and their family honored that decision.
I keep a photograph of my toes in the sand on my dresser. Every time I look at it and see all ten toes, I’m reminded of the extraordinary gift my donor and their family gave me. Without that donation, I would be living a drastically different life.
More than 1,300 Coloradans are currently waiting for life-saving transplants. To every DMV worker who asks customers if they’ve considered becoming a donor, who patiently explains the process, or who simply ensures the option is visible and accessible, thank you. Your work is giving hope to people like me and to those still waiting.
I encourage every Colorado Springs resident to check the box when visiting the DMV or register online at DonorAlliance.org.To my donor’s family: you gave me my life back. And to our DMV workers: thank you for helping give that same gift to others.

Tina Peter’s and the truth
The Colorado Clerk and Recorder’s (CCCA), an association of all 64 counties, recent impassioned plea to Governor Jared Polis, asking him to reject President Donald Trump’s request to move Tina to federal custody, was met with silence. The CCCA claimed that their safety could be jeopardized. And why would their safety be jeopardized? Well, they complained that anything Tina might say would cause further aggravation of the voting electorate.Only Rhonda Braun, Elbert County, stood aside from this impassioned plea and publicly asserted that she “questioned whether the credible threats received are the result of statements from Tina Peters.”
For the record, inquiries, canvassing efforts, and requests for the truth about elections have been responded to with a dismissive attitude (at best) or worse, condescending remarks such as those made by Matt Crane, the Executive Director of the CCCA. He has referred to those seeking truthful answers as “losers laments”, “conspiracy theorists” and “election deniers.” It should be noted that Crane’s wife worked for Dominion Software as a project manager for over 20 years. Dominion Software is the backbone of our election that tabulates and counts and reports our votes. Reporting is important because that is where the fraud is found.
What is true, is true and it cannot be erased, silenced or dismissed simply because others want to make it so. The truth cannot be denied because the mockingbird media repeats the lies about “the most secure election in history” and Colorado’s elections are a “gold standard”.
Tina Peter’s efforts in backing up the 2020 election records, as required by law, revealed just exactly what is happening with our elections.

Stop the negativity
Has anyone noticed that crime in the US is out of control? We have children, 14 to 16 year old kids committing crimes without consequence, a slap on the wrist and released to continue their criminal existence. No punishment, no jail time, nothing – disgusting.
We have political leaders denigrating law enforcement (ICE, police, border control, ATF, etc). They are called Nazis, Gestapo and worse. Jay Pritzker, Tim Waltz, Gavin Newsom and others do nothing positive for their constituents, they are too fixated on making President Donald Trump look bad — theorizing that it makes them look good – it doesn’t!
They are spewing hate, violence, and vitriol. Yet, their states and cities are being overrun with criminals – they refuse to ask for or accept help from the federal government. One need only look at Chicago to see the sad state of affairs. The mayor who has no clue about anything, is being criticized by his own constituents for refusing help. He has no business being in any public position, let alone mayor of one of the largest cities in the country which has one of the highest crime rates.
Now we have so called veterans who happen to be members of Congress preaching sedition to our military. Talk about a warped sense of patriotism.
The Democrats have nothing but animosity, nothing positive, soft on crime, no cash bail, arrest felons over and over until they kill or burn someone. They treat juvenile criminals like children instead of the felons they are. Do the crime do the time, age notwithstanding. Appoint judges who will do their job as judges not politicians. Give Trump some credit for what he has done, even though you may disagree with his methods. Stop the negativity, be constructive not destructive.

The real heroes
I get angry when I read about sports figures being called heroes. Here are some examples of some true heroes. A firefighter rushing into a burning building to rescue persons trapped inside. A police officer catching a fleeing bandit. A teacher persuading a troubled youngster to stay in school. A medical researcher discovering a cure for a dreaded disease.
I think there’s something wrong with a country that pays millions to entertainers and athletes while teachers. police officers, firefighters and nurses are underpaid. I don’t know how this bad situation can be corrected.
