Thankful in the end
Dec 03, 2025
The holiday season kicked off with Thanksgiving last week and I want to share my sincerest thanks with our entire community. As I look back on the past six months, one feeling rises above all others — gratitude.
When I filed to run for mayor in June, a set of goals guided my decision. Now tha
t the campaign, the election and the recount have concluded, I can say many of those goals were met, with one obvious exception. And still, gratitude is what I feel more than anything these last few weeks.
Many of you offered support and encouragement and reaffirmed for all of us how important a resident-focused future for Park City is. With your help, this relative unknown and underdog came remarkably close to pulling off an upset. And even those who didn’t choose me as their preferred candidate helped shape the conversation and guide us all to better dialogue, better outcomes, and hopefully better collaboration.
A central purpose of my campaign was to bring attention to areas where residents felt unheard, whether we were talking about development and traffic, preserving open space, or simply making government work more efficiently.
As I met with so many of you, it became clear that these concerns are widely shared. People want a Park City that listens. They want decisions grounded in what strengthens our entire community, not what advances the preferences of a few.
Jamie and I want to thank those who endorsed our message. Whether you wrote one of the 35 letters published in the paper, opened your home for one of the 32 living-room meetings, contributed as one of the 100-plus donors to Jack4Mayor, displayed one of the 450-plus yard signs, or simply shared a thoughtful conversation with me on your doorstep, please accept our heartfelt appreciation.
Every gesture, every exchange, and every show of support mattered. It truly took all of us to get this far.
Many of you have asked, “What’s next?” What I can share is this: The energy and encouragement you’ve given me have only strengthened my resolve to stay actively involved in Park City’s governance. Exactly what form that will take I’m not certain, but my commitment is clear. I will continue working to elevate the voice of residents in every conversation about our community’s future.
On behalf of Jamie and me, I wish everyone a safe, plentiful, and peaceful holiday season. And may our mountains soon be blanketed in snow. With deep gratitude,
Jack Rubin
