The Aurora Police Department fired a patrolman on Monday after he was arrested last week in connection with a domestic violence incident. Aurora officer Philip Sullivan was arrested Wednesday on a misdemeanor charge of third-degree assault after an incident at his home in Westminster, according to a n Aurora police news release posted on X.com. Sullivan also was charged with harassment, obstruction, resisting arrest, failure to leave a premis and prohibited use of a weapon, according to the news release. Sullivan was hired as a patrolman in January, the news release said. The department is conducting an internal administrative investigation. “The charges and behavior alleged in this case are extremely troubling and run counter to the values of the Aurora Police Department,” Aurora police chief Todd Chamberlain said in a statement. “We have zero tolerance for conduct that undermines public trust and victimizes others.” The domestic violence incident is being handled by the Westminster Police Department. Efforts to reach a Westminster police spokesman on Monday night were unsuccessful.
