A pair of separate shootings across Philadelphia early Monday left one man dead and another in critical condition, officials said.
In the deadly incident, officials said, a man — who police did not immediately provide further identifying information on — was shot in the chest and torso in an
incident that happened just after 3:30 a.m. along the 300 block of East Somerville Avenue in Philly’s Olney community.
First responders took this victim to a nearby hospital where, officials told NBC10, he was pronounced at about 4 a.m. on Monday morning.

Across the city, about an hour and a half earlier, officers responded to a shooting that, police said, happened along the 4800 block of Roosevelt Boulevard in Philly’s Crecentville neighborhood.
In this incident, police said, officers responded to the scene of what may have been a robbery — though, officials said investigators are still working to confirm that — to find a man who had been shot in the stomach.
The man, who police did not immediately provide further information on, was taken to a nearby hospital where officials said, he was listed in critical condition.
Investigators have not yet provided further information nor have they given any descriptions of suspected gunmen in either of these incidents.
Also, no arrests have yet been made in either shooting.
But, officials said, investigations into both shootings are ongoing.
As of Monday, Dec, 1, 2025, there were 201 reported homicides in Philadelphia so far this year, down more than 16% from the same time last year which ultimately saw the lowest number of homicides in a decade, according to police data.
