ELIOT — ICYMI, bar and restaurant Cliff’s closes on Wednesday, December 31. Owners Josh and Sierra Luebke told Willamette Week that Wonder Ballroom, their landlord, has decided not to renew their lease. In its place, Wonder Ballroom will install a lounge for ticket holders that won’t be open to the public. Meanwhile, the Leubkes are looking for a new kitchen space for Cliff’s. 128 NE Russell Street
BOISE — Sandwich shop Better Half is closing on Wednesday, November 26, Bridgetown Bites reports. The building housing Better Half is being sold to Portland Public Schools, apparently, “and they will be using all suites in the building for their operations,” per the restaurant website. Owners Alan Osborn and Kelly Haarsager are looking for a new location. 25 N Fremont Street
ROSEWAY — Food truck Reeva Cafe y Cocina a La Leña is now closing up shop for longer than expected, per a post on Instagram. The truck closed for the remainder of November as of Sunday, November 9, stating that the Reeva family had to attend to “personal matters.” As of Monday, November 25, the owners shed more light on the situation via Instagram: Chef Roberto attempted to obtain legal residency in the United States, but in the final stages was allegedly denied re-entry into the United States, where he’s lived for 20 years. “This unexpected turn of events has shattered our family and friends, and we are still coming to terms with the situation as we navigate the uncertain path ahead,” the post goes on to read. HAZELWOOD — Bridgetown Bites also caught the news that Cascadia Taphouse has closed its short-lived Timberview location inside the Array Food Hall. Cascadia has been in that space since August, per Bridgetown, and in a note on Instagram, the team writes in part, “While it hurts to step away, we’re choosing to focus on what matters most — the incredible communities that continue to support Cascadia Taphouse and Cascadia Heights, and the time we’ll now be able to give back to our families and Cascadia team who’ve supported us through every late night and early morning.” Cascadia’s other two locations remain open.
PORTLAND, WEST SALEM, ASTORIA, NEWPORT — It seems that Rogue Ales Spirits has filed for Chapter 7 bankruptcy and closed all of its locations, and shut down operations in Newport. Industry trade publication Brewbound alleges that the company owes $16.7 million in debts and has filed for Chapter 7 as of Monday, November 24. The Oregonian dives into some of that debt, alleging that Rogue owes $545,000 to the Port of Newport and $30,000 in taxes to Lincoln County.
